Austin-American Statesman:
Filling the hole
By Joe Gross - Thursday, June 26, 200
Well, that was quick. Newly minted Hole in the Wall booker Matt
Allen is no longer with the storied venue. Neither day manager Brooks
Brannon nor Austin Pizza co-owner Clay McLaughlin would comment
on Allen's departure, but both stated that live music is still in
the works. "Music will be booked here," Brannon said, but added
that there were still small improvements to be done to the legendary
bar. "We opened a little prematurely (in order to take advantage
of) the club's 30th anniversary," Brannon says. The bar will stick
with an emphasis on roots and country music, but a new booker has
yet to be hired. Allen could not be reached for comment.
